Well-Being Community

Staying at Palm Court

Joining our Well-Being Community has never been easier -  once you get in touch with us, we will organise to visit you or your relative to carry out an assessment to confirm the level of care that is required and the weekly fees. To ensure a smooth transition from your home to ours, we can liaise closely with you to plan the safe transfer of belongings and how you or your loved one would like to personalise their room.

Once the Nursing Care Plan is complete with all critical medical information and personal preferences, the main aim is to make you feel at home - safe, comfortable and happy where you are never far away from a warm smile or a reassuring touch of the hand.

Accommodation

Palm Court is both spacious and homely with private and communal areas. We offer a variety of room grades to suit all needs and budgets - from Standard to Premium Terrace Suites with a secluded garden.

All our rooms have en-suite facilities, a call bell system and a fully adjustable bed depending on the individual needs of the resident, for instance if an air mattress or bed rail assistance is required. A Daily Record Folder is located in each room that documents and monitors the resident's condition - from recording how much they have drunk in a 24-hour period to personal care such as shaving or cleaning hearing aids.

Meaningful Activities ~ Cognitive Stimulation

Our dedicated Activities Co-Ordinator engages in meaningful activities with residents in 1-to-1 or group settings as part of our cognitive stimulation and reminiscence therapy. Together with the information gathered from the person-centred activities questionnaire and planned themed weeks, we try to increase physical movement and communication levels  - whether it's doing crosswords or a bit of painting, floor exercises with a beach ball or helping to mix the cake batter for tutti frutti cup cakes for all the residents to enjoy or taking a walk to see the sensory forest mural and listening to the audio of birds chirping and singing.

Dining Experience

Meal times are not just about ensuring our residents get the right nutrition and diet - they are important markers that punctuate the day, giving structure and they are also a social trigger.

Eating and drinking is an event among friends and family, which has the potential to lighten moods and bring back fond memories of meals together celebrating birthdays or Christmas.

At Palm Court, we try to enrich the dining experience for each resident and make it more of a social event where carers are communicating throughout the meal, chatting as they assist residents. We also encourage other residents to sit with each other and enjoy a meal together.

Relatives are welcome to join any meals of the day. We just need 24 hours' notice to prepare and inform our Dining Team.

Testimonials

“Our 99 year old mum was admitted to Palm Court, having had several falls and other problems, the decision was made. With trepidation, my first visit I was nervous and a little anxious. Those anxieties soon drifted away, i was met with smiling faces who greeted me and were very kind and welcoming. By the end of that first visit I think I had met all of the staff on duty and even now when I visit several staff pop their heads around the door to say hi, and tell me what mum has been doing over their shifts, ( normally being quite cheeky).

If there is any change at all to mums health/ wellbeing the nurse never fails to inform us and query with us if a problem arises. Although given the choice mum would rather be at home she seems to have accepted being at Palm Court, and we as a family are relieved she is In a safe environment, which is clean, bright, albeit a basic room but adequate. Thanks to all the staff for their dedication and hard work, it is very much appreciated.

"My Wife is settling in very well in the Nursing Home, and I find the Manageress, the Nursing Staff and all the Carers to be very dedicated and caring people.

My wife's room is quite sufficient. It is en suite and has a small wardrobe and a small chest of draws, which is enough for my wife.

In conclusion, I would say my wife is very well looked after."
